Art gallery settles in the heart of downtown Saltcoats

ART enthusiast Ian Roberts has found a place for a pop-up gallery in Saltcoats.

Gallery Sometimes will take over the store next to Tickety Boo at 94 Dockhead Street this month.

And now Ian needs local artists to come forward and submit works for display at the gallery.

Ian wants artists, especially those who do not see themselves as “real” artists but simply lack a showcase for their work, to contact him to have it featured on September 14-25.

He said: “We are delighted to have a new gallery on Dockhead Street, right in the heart of downtown.

“For four years the West Kilbride gallery has been a great success and a platform for artists and I wanted to show that it could work in another city.

“We have had great support from people in the community and the Ayrshire Community Trust, TACT, has been a great support for the Gallery Sometimes project.

“It’s a great place and the community really helped us find it.

“Now we need artists to come forward and be part of this ephemeral gallery and no one will be turned down, it’s a showcase for everyone’s creativity … whatever your level, contact us and we will find a place for you.

The art gallery will be open Tuesday through Saturday every week.

Ian continued, “This is a great opportunity for artists to show their work locally and for people to have the chance to visit a gallery on their doorstep.

“I encourage anyone who enjoys creating art to contact me and discuss the gallery with me.”

Anyone who would like their work to be considered for Gallery Sometimes, can contact Ian on 07922474918 or email him at [email protected] and put Saltcoats Pop Up in the subject line of the email. mail.
