Crestwood made the short trip to Robichaud on Friday night for a battle of city rivalry with the Bulldogs.

Each of the two Dearborn Heights teams entered the contest with an overall 3-2 record. The visiting Chargers also tied for second with Melvindale in the Western Wayne Athletic Conference.
A shorthanded Crestwood team ultimately came away with a 27-16 victory in what was a hotly contested and fierce battle.
“We had a lot of players today,” Chargers coach Jamal Al said. “A lot of them had to intervene. When it mattered, we went to see the big dog, Tronice Hammond. He gave us what we needed every time.
“But honestly it was a tough game. Many young children have played today; a lot of mistakes that we need to correct. At the end of the day, a W is on the board.
Hammond, who recently signed to Morgan State University, rushed for two touchdowns in the win. Robichaud’s Jalen Carter also ran for touchdowns.
Crestwood (4-2, 4-1 WWAC) opened the scoring with a touchdown at 4:28 of the first quarter.
Chargers quarterback Zain Abdallah rushed out of the pocket at 4th base and was almost sacked, before finding wide receiver Mohamad Hakim open at the back of the end zone. Abdallah also had an interception in the second quarter in defense.
In the second quarter, with about 4:54 to go, the Bulldogs (3-3, 2-3 WWAC) fumbled at Crestwood 24 and it was picked up by Hakim.

Hammond rushed for a touchdown at 1:55 and Hakim entered the 2-point conversion to give the team a 14-0 advantage.
With 32 seconds left in the first half, Chargers ‘Adam Douglas intercepted a pass but on the next play, Bulldogs’ Damaurie Patrick caught a pass from Crestwood.
Robichaud reduced the deficit to six points in the third quarter, as Carter rushed for a touchdown and explained the 2-point conversion.
On a first and goal game early in the fourth, Abdallah scored a touchdown on a stealthy quarterback. The Chargers led 20-8 after the Bulldogs broke the 2-point conversion attempt.

The visitors took a 27-8 lead as Hammond rushed to score his second score of the night with just 1:39 to go. Kicker Ahmed Doudi scored the extra point.
Robichaud was able to add eight more points late in the game, as Carter scored a touchdown with 17 seconds left and Timothy Bennet scored on the play by 2 points.
Next Friday, Crestwood will host Redford Thurston while the Bulldogs host Romulus.
