Two first-half goals from Nathan Nourie proved to be all host DU would need, as they cruised to a 4-1 victory at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center.

Nourie finished with two goals on the night while teammates Luke Tafelski and Wayne Taiman both lit the lamp once. Nathan Holland had three assists in the win, Taiman and Lucas McBroom each had two and Brecken Furlow had one.

Overall, both teams had good regular seasons. DU closed with a 15-8-2 record and the Marauders finished at 14-10-1.

Nourie scored for DU around four minutes into the game. He then gave the home side a 2-0 lead with around three minutes left in the first half.

Carlson managed to cut his deficit in half before intermission.

With exactly 1:49 to go in the first, Jack Forynski scored on the powerplay for the Marauders and he was assisted by Aden Brake and Justin Genzel.

That power play marked one of seven times during the contest the Marauders skated with a man advantage. However, that was the only time they were able to capitalize on the opportunity, as DU’s penalty kill unit was strong all night and goaltender Cam Prodin was big in the net.

Adding to Carlson’s power play issues was a shorthanded goal for DU early in the second. With about 30 seconds remaining on DU’s penalty, Tafelski skated and beat Carlson keeper Isaac Kolasa to make it a 3-1 game.

To cap the score, Taiman found the back with just 42 seconds left in the second period.

In goal, Prodin stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced and on the other side, Kolasa finished with 22 saves on 26 shots.
