Donald j pliner has established a reputation for designing some of the most impeccable footwear and accessories. His art, which is inspired by more than two decades of traveling the world, has helped create a line that combines the exquisite taste of fashion, fit and comfort in every design. This same artistic outlook and these lively ambitions that drove him to be an iconic American shoe designer, are now taking him on new adventures with the opening of the Coming Home Gallery, in the heart of Wynwood.
The new gallery located at 29 NW 24th St, transforms the 25 foot ceilings and 7,000 square foot space into a world created exclusively by the imagination of Donald j pliner and his wife, designer colleague Lisa Pliner. The Pliner’s have focused the gallery around a concept of five distinct colors: black, white, silver, cobalt blue and Chinese red in what the duo calls “American modernism.” The distinct collection found in the gallery consists of carefully selected home furnishings and showcases a collection of chandeliers, sofas, chairs, rugs, massive mirrors, and one-of-a-kind works of art that will captivate even the most classic design aficionado. more experienced and seasoned.
The Wynwood Arts District is home to more than 70 art galleries, including the David Castillo Gallery and the Bakehouse Art Complex, making this district Miami’s central art hub and one of the best known to art lovers. This district is known for being home to some of the largest outdoor street installations in the world, artistic walks every second Saturday and the celebrated arrival of the Art Basel fair since its inception in 2002.
The Pliner’s are excited about this endeavor, especially since it will give them a chance to expand their renowned support for charitable work and the philanthropic artistic mission. The space will serve a dual purpose now that they can use it for their gallery and to host cultural programming events supporting their favorite causes and other artists.
But shoes, furnishings and humanitarian work are not the end of the line for the Pliner. The spirited duo are also carving out a foothold in the publishing industry by exploring their literary skills. Lisa has just published her book ‘Look Into Her Eyes’, which tells the story of Babydoll, the precious Maltese couple who have been part of the Donald J Pliner brand for years and who have appeared in marketing materials and several styles of. shoes ; Meanwhile, Donald is also in talks to write his first autobiography.
