With the 1-0 victory, Grosse-ÃŽle remained undefeated this season, improving to 7-0-1 overall and 4-0 in the Huron League. The Chiefs have slipped to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in the league.

The only goal scored on Wednesday came from Anthony Shaheen of Grosse-ÃŽle, who fired a shot that slipped into the upper right corner of the Hurons’ net about five minutes after the start of the second half.

Chiefs goaltender Chandler McCraight made some big saves along the way and the team’s defense shattered several scoring opportunities against a Devils team who averaged about four goals per game.

Grosse-ÃŽle goalie Hayden Watson made a big save with about 11 minutes left. The save came in a stretch where Huron applied quite a bit of pressure and landed two corner kicks along the way.

The Chiefs exerted some pressure again in the final five minutes but failed to equalize and the Devils came away with a narrow victory.

The next game on the schedule for Grosse-ÃŽle was a non-league game on Friday at Hamtramck. The team will return to the league on Monday, September 20 at home against Flat Rock, then travel to Riverview two nights later for a big showdown with the rival Pirates.

Huron was due to welcome Adrian Lenawee Christian the following night, then return to play in the Huron League on Monday at home against Monroe SMCC.
