The Dallas Mavericks (19-18) were chasing a third straight win tonight as they faced the Golden State Warriors (29-7) at the American Airlines Center.

While most of the attention and media coverage has been devoted to Dirk Nowitzki’s post-match jersey removal ceremony, we still have a real basketball game to play before it gets to this point. .
Although Kristaps Porzingis got into NBA health and safety protocols, Luka Doncic and the rest of the available Mavericks still managed to beat the Denver Nuggets easily in their last game, 103-89.
The Warriors are currently the best team in the entire league, led by Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Golden State is on a two-game winning streak after beating Utah Jazz on the road and the Miami Heat at home.
The Mavs’ new defensive courage has given the team the 10th best defensive rating in the entire league. This defense will have one of its biggest tests of the season tonight, however, as the Warriors are in the top 5 in terms of points per game and offensive rating.
And as good as the Mavs’ defense has been lately, the Warriors are even better, as they currently have the best defensive rating in the league. This is worrying for a team from Dallas who have struggled a lot on the offensive end of the field. The Mavs rank 26th in the league with 105.1 points scored per game.
